Eight-foot Trade Stimulator, Old Town Canoe The Old Town Canoe Company of Old Town, Maine, started selling canoes in 1903. In the early years of production the company gave its retailers a four-foot model with the purchase of 60 canoes, as many as filled a railroad boxcar. With the purchase of two boxcars of canoes (120), either one eight-foot model or two four-foot models could be selected. Very few eight-foot canoes were made; this is only the third I have seen in 30 years of seeking. In mint original condition, #86160 was finished and shipped to the O'Neale-Williams Co., Greenville, South Carolina, May 28, 1925. Original paperwork from Old Town is included. Length 8' Width 17"
