A Most Important Hepplewhite Inlaid Mahogany Elliptic Card Table with Serpentine Sides Having a narrow apron with satinwood ovals at center and above legs; The legs are unusually delicate further lightened by satinwood panel inlays; The accelerated taper begins at a higher level than the common after a complex cuff inlay; The table edge is cross banded in variegated rosewood which accentuates the superb shaping; The taller stance, narrow apron, accelerated leg taper, and paneled inlaid legs give this table a delicacy and lightness second to none; Salem or Boston, Massachusetts, in original condition; circa 1800; Provenance: The table descended through the Dunbar family of Portland, Maine.
