The gilded bowl, banded by mahogany veneer with brass inlays is supported on brass gilded satyr legs. Secondary wood is eastern white pine by microanalysis. Height: 11 in. Diameter 12 in. Attributed to Honore Lannuier, New York, circa 1812-1818 Provenance: Descended in the family of Alfred Seton, New York, 1793-1859 Ex-collection: Berry Tracy, former curator, American Decorative Arts, Metropolitan Museum and author of Classical America.
