Emile Bernoud (French 1864-1916); Art Nouveau Bust Stunning hand carved ivory bust of a young lady with superb detail and colour. Circa 1885 Height: 8 inches (20 cm) Width: 2-1/2 inches (7 cm) Emile Bernoud was born in Lyon on September 7, 1864; he died in 1916. Bernoud was an ivory carver who specialized in decorative carvings and adornments for some of the main cabinetmakers at the height of the Art Nouveau period. His commission work included portraits. This carved ivory bust represents one of these unique works and is exceptional for its fine detail and beauty.
