Georges Gori (French, Early 20th Century); Egyptian Dancer; Superb cold painted bronze and hand carved ivory figure of an exotic dancer in full costume; Signed. Circa 1925 Height: 13-1/2 inches (34 cm) Width: 6 inches (15 cm) Georges Gori was born in Paris at the turn of the century. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and started to exhibit at the salon from 1929, winning a bronze medal in 1931. He specialized in figurative bronze and ivory statuettes and was much sought after by the Art Deco clientele of early 20th century Europe. The Egyptian Dancer is fully illustrated on page 160 of Art Deco and Other Figures, by Brian Catley.
