A magnificent version of this beautiful clock, with Royal provenance, designed by emperor Napoleon's bronzier, Andre Galle 1761-1844, of Amor playing his lyre. Designed to be a freestanding complete sculpture, the movement loaded from front only and with the back of the figure therefore uninterrupted by any opening, it is exceptionally well suited to be placed in front of a mirror. Dial signed by Mallet Hr De M D D'Orleans and stamped into rear of case a crown over LNP & inventory number indicating ownership by King Louis Phillippe of France at his Chateau de Neuilly, reoccupied in 1815 after the fall of Napoleon.
