This rare set of four so called dressed pictures (gouache habille) is especially remarkable for the sophistication of the textiles used and the level of artistry of the landscape backgrounds. It is also quite unusual for such works to be signed and dated by the artist. The pictures retain their late 18th Century Italian veneered wooden frames.
