Having an all-over lattice pattern enclosing stylized red, gold and turquoise plants and flowerheads on an ivory ground within a turquoise border of flower and ribbon motifs; the ivory ground repeated in the main border of stylized leaves and vines and enclosed by a deep turquoise outer border. In this rug the weavers used themes from the Persian carpet weaving tradition, but executed the rug with distinctly Indian colors and design motifs to arrive at their own unique creation. India, late 19th century.
