Painted New England Tall Case Clock; Probably Vermont, circa 1830-1850. Decorative elements reminiscent of finely painted Vermont boxes. The fretwork is an elegant interpretation of a Roxbury type found on the best formal Willard clock cases. Both the architectural and the painted elements combine to make this clock outstanding.
