A Pair Of English North Country Treacle-Glazed Pottery Lions.

Each lion is glazed in treacle brown. Each has a fine moulded mane and open mouth, showing sharp teeth. The right front paw rests on a ball, reminiscent of the D' Medici lions. The tail swishes forward over the right flank; all upon a rectangular, stepped base.

Circa 1800-1810.
