A Pair Of Spode New Stone China Armorial Plates, Arms of Mills impaling Hatch.

These finely painted plates are copies of a Chinese Export service made for William Mills of Clapham who had married Elizabeth daughter of James Hatch of Clabery Hall in Essex. Their second son, Christopher-John, also married a daughter of another James Hatch of Clabery about 1810. One can speculate that this service was ordered on the occasion of that marriage.

Marks: Printed Bone Stone China Mark.

Circa 1810.
