A Rare Welsh Console.

The console is decorated with dragons and other mythical beasts in Poker-work. The design was achieved using hot metal. The console is of rectangular form with canted front corners with two front cabriole legs rising from a lower shelf. The back has a shaped backboard.

The console has a form typically associated with the Regency period but the decoration is associated with the Arts and Craft Period of the fourth quarter of the 19th century.

Circa 1880-1900.
