Established in 1970, Birchknoll Antiques has developed as a full time, family run business purely from a passion for the historical value of quality antiques.

Carole Greco founded the business as a mother of three boys -- two of whom were "schooled" at the Highway Hotel in Concord New Hampshire in the 70's. The Highway Hotel housed the industry's original top-quality antique show. People like Albert Sack, our good friend Ed Weissman, Wayne Pratt and many other industry trademarks attended and exhibited at the Highway Hotel event.

For a period of time in the late 70's and early 80's, Birchknoll Promotions introduced top quality room-type setting shows to suburban Boston. During this period, two of the boys -- Neil and Ronald -- had an active hand in the business. They participated in show set-up, advertising and promoting as well as loading and unloading ("portering") dealers. This is where an early understanding and admiration for good honest dealers selling fabulous product was spawned.

In recent years, the eldest son Neil has taken a full-time interest in the business. Neil's background, combined with industry dynamics, has our business focused on a budding on-line presence, a select grouping of proven charity shows, and our shop in the village of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. We take great care in presenting representative samples of period furnishings, fine art and porcelains in our shop, at shows and in our on-line showcase.

Over time, changes in style and market demands have led the business through various trends: American to English furnishings; Porcelain to Pewter; European to American fine art. The evolution of the industry has changed the way collectors collect and enthusiasts buy, from stand alone shops to collaborative shops, dealers to auction galleries, and shows to on-line buying. This represents a dramatic shift in the way the Antiques industry has functioned for decades. The result has been an explosive growth of information available to the buying public.

As we see it, the challenge for today's consumer is understanding what they're buying, and that they buying from a trusted source -- much like it was at the Highway Hotel in New Hampshire 30 years ago. Our experience acts as a great resource for our clients -- we believe in accurately representing quality products that are of the proper value in the market -- in the shop, on the road and on our website.

The professional design community, along with out clients have positively impacted our business. We are an Industry Partner of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and work with design professionals and individuals seeking particular items, enhancing a room, an office or an entire home. Consistent with our passion for fine art and the preservation thereof, we are active memebers of the New Hampshire Dealers Association, Historic New England, and the New Hampshire Historical Society.

We pride ourselves on building customer relationships of lasting value -- please feel free to contact us for any type of service.
