David Cook Fine American Art is a gallery specializing in historic American Indian art. Located in historic Lower Downtown Denver in the renovated Chevron Building, the gallery has ever changing displays of important works of American Indian art for sale including textiles, basketry, pottery, and beadwork dating from the 19th and early 20th centuries which are complemented by American Arts and Crafts furnishings.
David Cook Fine Art is the most recent addition to our existing gallery in Lower Downtown Denver. Adjacent to the distinguished Denver landmark, the Oxford Hotel, the Fine Art gallery showcases Rocky Mountain and early Colorado artists from the 19th and early 20th centuries. An emphasis on modernism: the Broadmoor Academy, as well as the Santa Fe and Taos schools is the current focus of the gallery.
David Cook has been dealing in fine American Indian art and American paintings for twenty years in Denver, and also exhibits at several of the most important art shows around the country including San Francisco, Santa Fe, Seattle, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington, DC. David currently sits on the board of directors for the Douglas Society, a Native Arts support group to the Denver Art Museum. He is also a charter member of A.T.A.D.A., the Antique Tribal Art Dealer Association Inc. Dedicated to the highest standards of dealing and collecting antique tribal art, the association provides educational services as well as establishing ethical standards for the profession. David handles appraisals for both the Denver Art Museum and the Denver Museum of Natural History. He has been responsible for building several major private collections from New York to Los Angeles and in Europe. He has been invited by the city of Loveland, Colorado, to jury their annual artist exhibition. His many years in the business give David the unique ability to acquire significant works of art in various areas, including painting, sculpture, important Arts and Crafts furnishings, and American Indian art. David has a keen sense of the current art market and travels to New York every fall and spring to attend the auctions of the major houses. We are interested in purchasing both individual pieces and entire estates.
