Highlights: Clement Massier -- Master of Iridescence
The inspiration behind Louis Comfort Tiffany's celebrated iridescent favrile glass, Clement Massier (1844-1917) belonged to a family of potters in the south of France dating back to his great-grandfather Pierre Massier in the eighteenth century. Inspired by the luster glazes of Hispano-Moresque ceramics, Massier exhibited his new metallic luster glazed pottery at the Paris Exposition in 1889 and won a gold medal. Sixty never-before-seen pieces of his lusterware dating from 1888 to 1905 are on show, along with work by Massier's relatives and followers. All are available for purchase; prices range from $5,000 to $150,000. An exceptional opportunity for collectors of Art Nouveau.
