Antique Serapi Carpet
Northwest Persia
9'4" x 11'9"
Last quarter 19th Century
Courtesy of Lexington Antique Oriental Rugs
Most carpets from the weaving center of Northwest Persia, present day Iran, are of geometric design, and Serapi carpets are best known for their large, bold geometric patterns. A wonderful example of its type, this rare antique Serapi has an unusual palette of coral, peach, green, and cream, and contains no blue, a color found in most oriental rugs. It is in its fine original condition with a full pile and full outer border; it has had no repairs. |
