An interesting ormolu French Empire clock depicting "Ceres" the earth goddess representing the cyclical nature of time. She wears a diadem of wheat & holds aloft a sickel. The dial is surrounded by a wheat sheaf & to the right a flail & basket. Unusual case construction with break front base, central plaque in high relief of ploughman & oxen. Rake & spade applied mounts. 8 day, bell strike with silk suspension. Circa 1810.
