A fine French Louis XVIth period ormolu, patinated bronze & white marble mantel clock. Venus lifts the hem of her skirt as a cupid caresses her and another cupid peeps from behind the clock. Trophies of love abound & an inset ormolu plaque shows cupids at play. 8 day bell striking movement with silk suspended pendulum. Circa 1785. 15 inches tall.
