A Continental Faience Polychrome Tankard, German.
Possibly Crailsheim.
The cylindrical tankard with indented rim is painted in polychrome colors of an ochre, green and manganese house with distinctive three sphere weathervane in a landscape with rolling hills and manganese and green trees. A pewter lid with a spherical thumb handle and with a central moulded central medallion depicting a shepherd and shepherdess with numerous sheep in a mountainous landscape. The handle is decorated in underglaze blue with stripes down the back and dots on either side.
Marks: Pewter cover has three stamped marks. Two appear to be the same. Within roundal two running foxes or wolves with three letters below M? C K and above that H? H?. The second mark also within a roundal is a tree possibly an orange tree growing from a mound
