An Extremely Rare Enamel Portrait Miniature Of A Gentleman, By William Prewett. Signed And Indistincly Dated. Prewett's miniatures are extremely rare as are signed examples in particular. William Prewett (or Prewitt) (1735-1750?): Prewett was born in Suffolk and was a student of Zincke and is considered one of the best enamellists of the British school. Miniature by him, according to Foskett, are scarce. Oval: 1 3/8 inches. Circa 1730.
