A very fine Queen Anne dropleaf table in a rare large size: 52 x 60 x 27.5 inches in height. Choice mahogany, with maple and chestnut secondary woods. Beveled edge to top, shaped skirt, turned leg at frame, and pad feet. Old or original surface on base; mellow, rich surface on top. Shows evidence of blocks screwed to underside of top and slotted into sides of frame, a feature often attributed to the Goddard-Townsend cabinetmakers. Newport, RI, c. 1745-60.
