In the Hanoverian pattern, the egg shaped bowl with well preserved cast and chased shell and scroll back heel, the long shaft with upturned terminal engraved with the contemporary monogram T over R I over the crest of an escallop shell reversed (Fairbairnes Plate, #3 ; Bolger, Scaife)

Note: Hash spoons are very large basting spoons, over 13” in length, that were used for serving hash (mixture of potatoes and meat) in the 18th and 19th centuries. The early large ones are particularly collectible. This scroll is in exceptionally crisp condition.
