BOW PORCELAIN UNUSUAL MOLDED LEAF-MOLDED DISH, England, c1765-70

The modeled overlapping cabbage leaves boldly painted in blue and white, centering an unusually decorated grape stem beginning as a curved stem, issuing 2 opposing grape leaves and ending in 2 clusters of grapes, on a leafy painted blue ground within a shaped feuille-de-choux rim, the verso with a pseudo Oriental character mark.

This is rather unusual Bow leaf dish - both in the stem painting, and the dish form. Although the ceramic, painting and firing are definitely Bow, the ceramic mold appears to be of Chelsea, Meissen or Worcester inspiration. It is not a form that Bow originated.

10.75 inches long
