Of heavy gauge Britannia silver, the early girdled baluster caster with a bayonet mount, the lid pierced in two planes of differing designs (a feature not commonly found at any other period) and with knop finial, raised on a circular foot, the body with a crest of a sword and key in saltier (Fairbairn’s Pl 54, #12 – Bone, Boun, Bounn, Burgin, Dunbar, Heald, johnson, Terell); the verso with scratched initials E*G over 9-12-12 (1712); the body marked on the side; the lid with maker's mark and lion's head erased
