Attributed to a commission for the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities and later deaccessioned. The body of the bird is composition with wood wings, painted with an undercoat of red, and overlaid with patinated gilt. Each of the 75 hand-blown glass feathers is inserted separately into brass tubes clustered on the bird's back. From beak to tail the bird measures 25 3/4", with a wing span of 51", and a diamete of 48" with all the feathers inserted.
