Chinese Porcelain, Qing dynasty, Qianlong (1736-1795)
A jug modelled after a faience original, with a short handle, and full pear-shaped body tapering to a broad spout with the face of a Western man. Decorated in underglaze blue with a continuous landscape, including rocky islands with pagodas, trees, mountains, fences, a bridge with two figures and a boat, all connected with water. The neck decorated with a diaper-patterned border around the rim.
