Chopin a Paris

Circa 1805

The patinated vase, decorated with fountain masks and pools below and supported by two dolphins, is surmounted by a figure of Venus seated on a seashell chariot pulled by two doves. The base has applied gilt mounts of Neptune's head, seahorses and paterae, and stands on six gilt toupee feet. The white enamel dial is signed Chopin a Paris. The movement has a silk suspended pendulum and countwheel strikes on a bell. This model is attributed to the famous bronze foundry of Galle.
