Great form, old finish, wonderful color, matched flame birch veneers, excellent condition. This table has it all, including a bold presence, being 3 inches wider than most card tables. The table is branded L. Barnes, a prominent merchant and sea captain in Portsmouth during the period 1800-1856. Furniture bearing Barnes' brand is in the collections of SPNEA, Old Sturbridge Village, and the Baltimore Museum of Art.
