Fine Charles X mahogany console table, the original marble top (Blue Turquin) over the single long drawer supported by two two uprights, each with volutes on the sides and reeded and boldly carved with a leaf at the knee and ending in paw feet, all on a plinth base. Signed "L. BELLANGÉ"
Louis-Francois Bellange (1759-1827) was a very successful Parisien cabinet maker, having delivered furniture to Napoleon in 1811. The supports on this console relate to those on another console by Bellange illustrated in "Le Mobilier Français du XIX Siecle" by Denise Ledoux-Lebard, p.64.
