A rich array of rosettes, palmettes, and floral sprays in soft blues, yellows, and tans sweeps grandly across the rich apricot ground of this majestic antique Sultanabad. While they appear to be linked by vines, in reality most of these forms float freely and rhythmically in dynamic independence, imparting a lively, animated quality to the design. The tighter, more closely articulated blue ground border contrasts with the lightness and freedom of the field, as well as with its color and scale.
