This beautiful pair of cast stone sphinxes are marked by the French firm J.J. Ducel et Fils. A resurgence of interest in things Egyptian occurred during the fourth quarter of the 19th century with archaeologial exploration. The Ducel firm was operative during that time. They were also known for their cast iron garden sculptures.
