Dedrick Brandes Stuber

Dedrick Stuber was born in New York on May 4, 1878. Stuber studied at the Art Students League in New York City and with Bridgman, Onderdonk and Clinton Peters. He came to California in 1920, settling in Los Angeles where he exhibited through 1940. Stuber painted many marines and mountain views and is best known for his pastoral landscapes of Southern California. A plein air painter, he preferred working during the cool shadowy hours of sunrise when the shade predominates. Stuber was a member of the Laguna Beach Art Association, the Painters and Sculptors of Los Angeles and the Glendale Art Association. He exhibited at the Wilshire Gallery in Los Angeles during the 1920's. The Pasadena Museum of Art and the New Mexico Museum both have his work in their permanent collections. Stuber died in Los Angeles on August 18, 1954.
