This clock is, as Todd Prickett notes, “a true masterpiece produced by the combined efforts of two of Philadelphia’s leading artisans.” One of a select group of tall clocks embellished with a central cartouche, the carving on the tympanum epitomizes the playful, ornate, and naturalistic elements found on the finest examples of American rococo furniture.
