This clock is, as Todd Prickett notes, “a true masterpiece produced by the combined efforts of two of Philadelphia’s leading artisans.” One of a select group of tall clocks embellished with a central cartouche, the carving on the tympanum epitomizes the playful, ornate, and naturalistic elements found on the finest examples of American rococo furniture. This clock retains its original feet and flame finials. A related clock is illustrated in the Girl Scout Loan Exhibition Catalog (1929), 606.
